There are many purported cures for the tadpole parasites that plague the party in Baldur's Gate 3, and one of those is the bard Volo's experimental surgery. Players are liable to first meet Volo in the Emerald Grove, where he's interviewing a druid in Wild Shape about the recent goblin-tiefling conflicts. He twists their words to craft an exaggerated account of their recent battle before disappearing from the grove. As it turns out, Volo's been kidnapped by goblins and forced to perform odes to their leader Dror Ragzlin, leaving the blustering bard in dire need of rescue. 

Once Volo has been freed from his goblin clutches, he'll start to appear back at camp. If Tav lets him examine them, he'll learn of their&nbsp;mind flayer parasite&nbsp;and offer to do a little research on getting rid of it. After a few long rests, Volo pipes up again: he's found a way to get rid of the parasite, and, armed with a needle, he's ready to perform the requisite surgery right away. All but the strongest-stomached players may have long since balked at the idea, but&nbsp;letting Volo undertake the treatment procedure can result in some interesting consequences.&nbsp;&nbsp;

First,&nbsp;if Tav says yes to Volo's procedure,&nbsp;every single&nbsp;Baldur's Gate 3&nbsp;companion&nbsp;will disapprove. Talking to Wyll after the procedure does result in a cute little piece of unique dialogue in which he welcomes Tav to the one-eye club, but that doesn't do much to recoup any affinity they've lost with him. But by the time all the disapproval popups fade away from the screen, Volo has already set to work with his needle.

There are a series of dialogue choices that follow; Tav can attempt to stop Volo midway through the surgery, which will allow them to get up from the operating table without any consequences. If Volo is allowed to proceed, however, he'll attempt the process with the needle before moving onto a more "robust" instrument - an ice pick. The scene mercifully cuts away before anything too gory happens, but Tav can curse, shout, or mumble through the procedure until Volo holds his ice pick aloft, triumphant. Except what's on the end of it isn't a parasite at all. It's Tav's right eye.

How Tav chooses to respond doesn't much matter, but most of the choices involve appropriate measures of panic and rage. The would-be surgeon cowers, and by way of apology, gives Tav a lovely little prosthesis called Volo's Ersatz Eye. This is equipped automatically, and has two permanent effects. The first is cosmetic; the false eye will always glow blue, regardless of the player's eye color choices during&nbsp;Baldur's Gate 3&nbsp;character creation.&nbsp;The second effect is permanent application of the&nbsp;see invisibility&nbsp;spell. This affords the player chances to reveal hidden objects and enemies to the rest of the party.

It's literally the funniest thing in the entire game. I'm pretty sure they hired some comedian for the draft of the script. Anything else is beyond imagination! We don't like to spoilter here but if you don't, Astarion will come for you ...

Baldurs Gate 3: Volo should remove your eye!

In Baldurs Gate 3 you can aquire a total of 10 Companions. In this short Guide we will show you, where and how to aquire them!

You will encounter her very early in your Playthrough on the Ship. After you land, she will be held captive.

Free her and you can recruit her finally.

You can recruit her pretty easily. She is trapped with you on the Ship where you can (and should) recruit her. She has a very interesting questline later on. Free her and she will gladly join!

Karlach is a bit more complicated. You will have to right couple of lying Paladins in a house in the east to gain her trust. To find her more easily, we recommend to get Wyll, because he will lead you right to her. She is a charming, simple character and worth to fight for!

You can recruit her by choosing to side with the Goblins, when fighting for the Hain. You will be able to get her into your team after the Quest has finished. Be careful though: If you recruit her, you won't be able to recruit Halsin.

in Act 2 you will be able to recruit her once you enter the town in the Abyss. She will give you information about Ketheric Thorm and is waiting for you in the tavern.

He is a bit trickier: You will encounter a Portal very early in Act 1. His hand is sticking out of that where you can choose to either cut of his hand (which will lead to not being able to recruit him) or to help him out. If you manage to roll successfully you will drag him out of the portal and he will join your group.

If you are interested to get this psycho vampire boy, then you have to head west after you land on the Beach (Act 1) and at some point he will ambush you with a cutscene. You can headbutt him or go the peaceful route. Either way, he will join afterwards.

You first need to rescue him from the Goblin Village in Act 1. You will have to fight your way through all of them to get him out of there. Afterwards you can recruit him to your party. Be careful though: If you happen to side with the goblins to fight the Hain, you will lose him as a member of your party.

Minsc is a old-school character from BG1 and BG2. You will encounter him very late in the game: Act 3.

You will have to fight him in the catacombs of Baldurs Gate, where he is being manipulated. You can either kill him (which would mean you can't recruit him anymore) or you can damage him to be very low life, and then make him unconscious. After the fight is over, he will come to sense and wants to join your group.

<a href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/1086940/Baldurs_Gate_3/">Baldurs Gate 3</a> is an amazing game made by Larian Studios which have been choosen as the Game of the Year 2023 in the RPG Category. Today we're going to show you things you can do in the game that are somewhat unique (weird) compared to other RPGs.

In the very first Act you can interact with a squirrel and choose to literally kick it against a rock. And it's not even a 10% strength kick, no. Your Character literally charges with an almighty kick of the century and smashes the squirrel with 200mph against the rock. Ouch. (To be fair it somewhat deserves it, it acts like a dick towards you.)

Fun Fact #2: You can make a gnome fly with the wrong lever

Imagine you're shackeled to a windmill and some hero is coming to your rescue. After days of going up and down you're finally free. Except you're not if the hero (YOU) decides to make you fly to the moon. For some that's on purpose but for others you're just intrigued to try out the "other" lever to see what happens.

Fun Fact #3: You can make out with your Mind Flayer (Spoiler)

At some point in the Game you will be able to go into your brain (literally) and make out with a mind flayer that is living there. Sounds bizarre? it is. But without spoilering you, that's a very weird thing to do. But kinda interesting. We recommend you play the game to find out why this Mind Flayer is living inside you. PS: It has a very good reason.

As you may know already, Baldurs Gate 3 is a bit different than other Top-Down RPGs. In most other RPGs the amount of damage you deal or the amount of damage you take is often modeled after formulas. Those take your strength, defense, agility or other stats into account and spit out a number which you either deal to the enemy, or take.

For instance you have 10 strength and enemy has 5 defense. Often the formulas are simple + or - so here you would deal strength - defense = damage which would be 10 - 5 = 5 damage. Most RPGs are very simple in their damage calculation.

Baldurs Gate is different here.&nbsp; Instead of simple damage formulas, we have dices which everytime you do anything, you roll the dice. (There are formulas at play here too, but the dice plays important role here)

Everything gets rolled. Often you don't see it but if you do it looks something like this:

Basically you roll everything in the game but the ones you see on the screen are more important because they are often decisions in a dialogue you need to roll or a chest you want to lockpick. Failing those can lead to different outcomes.

So with the basic mechanic out of the way, we gonna lay out how you can optimize your early game dice rolls. As you might have guessed it, you can influence the number that comes out at the end of the roll.

Your Attack Rolls are your bread and butter in the game. Let's say you're a wizard and you want to increase your damage and your chance of hitting your enemy.&nbsp; Your primary stat as a Wizard is Intelligence.

The damage and hit chance is calculated like this: Output = d20 + Ability Score Modifier + Proficiency bonus (if any) + other modifiers (if any)

The d20 means dice 20 which is the normal 20 sided dice you use to roll most of the time. The rest is not so clear so let's look at those.

In short you'll get certain bonuses for the amount of points you place in your primary stat. In our example we have a Wizard and his/her primary stat is Intelligence. So if we place enough points into this stat, we start to get +1, +2, +3 as a bonus onto our rolls. This also scales into the damage of the spell which is a nice way to say we're becoming Gandalf later.

This bonus basically means that you have an act for something like Light Armor, Staffs or Sword and Shield. If you wield a Staff as a Wizard, you get a profiency bonus because that's what Gandalfs do. <a href="https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Proficiency">See here for more information</a>

That's stuff you get from items for instance. Certain items give you a bonus on your intelligence which can result in a higher Ability Score -&gt; higher dice roll.

Let's now walk through a example how everything get calculated. We use abstract numbers to get the point across.

Your stats:&nbsp;+2&nbsp;Ability Score Modifier (Gandalf goes brrrr),&nbsp;+1&nbsp;Proficiency Bonus, +0 other Modifiers

That's basically how it works. We won't go into detail how Saving throws for instance work but you can look it up in <a href="https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Dice_rolls">great detail here</a>.

Your Armor class is the second most important stat because it acts as your "defense" stat. Attacks will be rolled against your AC (Armor Class). To increase your armor class you have to know what type of Class you play. Let's say you're playing a Wizard which has the Dexterity&nbsp;stat as it's Armor Class scaling attribute. You have to increase this stat because your AC will scale with your Dexterity.

Use above Table as reference. We recommend you put in some points every now and then to become more "tanky" the more you progress into the game.

Dice Roll Mechanics for Beginners

Baldurs Gate 3 is vast Open-World game. If you read up some reviews they claim almost 200+ hours of playtime and even more if you consider re-running the game. This can be intimidating for beginners. Here is a short list of Tips you should consider when starting as an absolute beginner.

Tip 1: Throw Health Potions to heal allies

You can throw Health Pots to allies to heal them in fights or even better, if you stay close together: Throw it to the ground beneath you to heal multiple allies and yourself. You can throw most other potions for good measure aswell.

Especially in early game fights where you're not familiar with the Battle System yet, you'll need to make sure to carry around enough health potions and know the tricks to use them right.

Tip 2: Carry Candles to enhance your melee weapons

Consider carrying candles to throw them on the ground to create a small area of fire. You can then use your ability to enhance your sword to deal more damage.

Having candles at hand or a spell to cast a fire area on the ground is a good way to increase the damage you deal on monsters early on.

You need to pick a lock alot in Baldurs Gate 3. Consider - no - buy all of the available Thieves Tools you can find. You will want to roll with those instead of Inspiration (which is very precious for a simple chest).

They are cheap and don't weigh much. Buy them!
