Wii Sports is a sports game developed by Nintendo for the Nintendo Wii, released on November 19, 2006. This has been one of my favorite Nintendo Wii games growing up and continues to be today. Listed below are some details about the game you probably weren't aware of.

Fact #1: There was going to be an extra sport to play.

A sport called "Airplane" was originally going to be in the game. It was showcased at E3 2006 alongside other sports in the final release. Airplane’s gameplay would have been similar to "Island Flyover" from Wii Sports Resort, but you would be flying through rings to earn points rather than collecting iPoints and popping balloons.

Fact #2: Miis had a slightly different look.

During development, Miis originally had a more realistic ear design.

Wii Sports was created as a launch title for the Nintendo Wii console. Over 80 million copies of the game were sold, making it the top-selling single-platform exclusive game of all time. Because of this game, Nintendo was able to sell more than 100 million Nintendo Wii consoles, outselling the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
